It's that time of the year again.
Christmas doesn't have to be red and green. It doesn't have to be all about snow either. Just have fun with the colors and give the Yuletide Season a pop of cray!

A Glass of Tea --lights
I have glasses collecting dust over the shelves. Never been used because they're too beautiful to be held by clumsy hands like my brothers and sisters.
Same thing going on with you? Well, why not repurpose these glasses to tealight containers.
This is a simple DIY project. Place tealight in the glass. You can even add a bit of water so the tealights float. And you are done! No mess, no trouble. Just dainty lighting.
By the way, don't forget, we are dealing with fire here. Never leave them unattended even if the glasses contain water. Better safe than sorry.
Then, enjoy.
Cookie Gulp
Got boxes of Speculoos Cookies and jars of Cookie Butter?
Why not whip up something quite different but familiar. Speculoos Cookies and Cookie Butter smoothie.
Here's how:
1 cup of crushed Speculoos cookie butter
1 cup of milk (of any kind)
1/2 cup of condensed milk
1 cup Speculoos cookie butter
lastly, lotsa ice :)
Blend the ingredients together until smooth. Then bam!
This might be too sweet for some so you might want to adjust the recipe according to your taste.
That's the good thing about this drink. Just explore. But never forget to focus on the main ingredient -the cookies and that awesome cookie butter. Enjoy.

Hearbeats and crazy sweets
Ah, the love month. It is my 22nd year of not having a Valentine date. I would complain about my friends having dates on the only day people view to be a day when they'd be extra sweet to their special someone. I remember posting every day of February of last year on my Facebook account about how irritated I was towards the day. But surprisingly, this year changed.
Not that I have found the one I'd be spending the day with but its just that I am fine with the day and my friends having dates for Valentine's. Acceptance maybe. I guess being so cray cray helped me overcome the bitterness I feel toward the day. Haha.
You might ask why I'm posting it here rather than on my personal tumblr account. Well, I don't even know. But I am. Which then leads me to thinking about tips on how to come up with a surprise Valentine's date.
Haha.
I am no expert on dating but with setting up the date, hmmmm I might give a hand. Now we are talking. Haha.
YO BOYS!
Dinner dates are very common. So, you might wanna consider breakfast surprises. I know your girlfriend might not want you to see her in her just-woke-up state. But I assure you, that could work out fine, that is if you really accept her beyond looks. Haha. K, whatevs! Flowers and chocolates are way too traditional. Try to make your own stuff. There are a lot of DIY gifts you could do. You may not be the artsy kind of guy but at least you tried. And your girl would be surprised with what you can do! Let the juices overflow. (Now that came out wrong)
GIRLS, LISTEN!
Thing is, try to think out of the box. Do the uncommon. You might wanna take him to a place couples don't usually hangout. Like places your boyfie goes with his guy friends. Like go to a paintball site, wall climbing, or wakeboarding maybe. Girls could do the surprises this year! Girl power, baby! Haha. I know it is very difficult to think of a gift for a guy so that tip might just work out.
I have a lot of things in mind now that I find so difficult to put in words. Wish I could do it all this year but the question is: to whom? Haha. Whatevs! K.
To wrap it up, just don't be scared in trying out new things and exploring the uncommon. You'll never know, you might start a trend.

Midnight City
Mostly echoes and whispers -that is the best way I could describe the song.
I first heard of the airy song by M83 in Warm Bodies writen by Isaac Marion and directed by Jonathan Levine. Well, reading the book was different from watching it. Now this might sound a lot like a movie review but let me assure you, we'll get to designing tip later.
Anyway. I had more fun reading it than watching it. Scenes weren't similar from what I imagined reading it. Though, I can't blame Levine especially if it was Marion's idea. Somehow, I got bored with how it was represented. Good thing the music score was good. Now, where am I going with this, you might ask. Well here we go.
In my previous post I asked you to imagine yourself in a music video while listening to your favorite song. Try to assess your vision again without the music. Now which is better?
I'd have to say the one with music is way better, right? Now that's color. That is the feel. You'd want to walk in a room where you get a certain vibe -may it be fun, calm, or even harsh- as long as it fits you and the design.
The thing is, you think of your design with music as an inspiration then keep the music playing after brainstorming. Thus, keeping the song's vibe in your design in the long run. Never turn down the volume. Never let the vibe run out.
The same goes with organizing parties. You'd want to play songs that fit the event. Never be afraid to apply music to your design or concepts.
In future posts, I'll be showing you photos with similarites and differences between the designs and the songs.
As for now, try to work on your own and surprise yourself with a pop of cray.

Now in your room or any other places in your house you'd like to redesign, try to listen to an old song -or if you are the type that loves modern noise (no pun intended) then so be it, and imagine yourself in a set. In this case you are in a music video. You are the director, the props people, the artist, the actor. You get to do whatever you want, in short.
Now that you have your music video set in your mind, go back to reality. Your room.
Do you like what you see now? No? Then make use of the feeling you had while making up the music video in your mind. Get the feel.
If you listened to an upbeat song, then the way you'd want your room to be would be fun and colorful. As for slow or the ballads, I might say it falls on the modern minimalist class. Old songs tend to lean more on the traditonal design. But if you played hard and rocked your way to imagination, no more questions there. Black would reign your design.
Try to play around with music and apply it to your design. Never be afraid to mix and match. In the end, it will all fall to your liking. Because as I have mentioned, you are the director, the props people, artist, and the actor. And try listening to other genres, even the ones you'd never thought of listening to. That might surprise you. Well, in a good way probably.

Get Cray Cray on Christmas

| Spread Christmas cheer on every corner of your house. The season that most people consider to be so expensive is almost here. Don't go telling me you have not decorated your house with Christmas stuff! Well if you were gonna say YES, then you're on the right page. See. We have to buy gifts, go to or hold parties, and so much more spending during this season that we sometimes end up cutting off the budget for Christmas decorations. Now is the time you open that dusty old box labelled "Christmas 2011" in your storage area. Yeah. Reuse some old decors. CHRISTMAS TREE I used the same Christmas Tree (the fake one) from last year and the same ornaments but I added new little touches on the tree like hanging ribbons :)  Don't limit your Christmas tree with just balls and lights. Add flowers and ribbons :)  Think of a color you would want to focus on and work with colors around it. Do the accent technique then bam! Merry Christmas! :) Will post more of Christmas decors this week :) |

Think Green and Focus
This probably is an addition to my last post.
Yeah :)
GREEN.
A lot of people doubt the color which represents life, nature, and fertility. Maybe because they're so afraid that their space would look like their front yard garden. But fear not! Green, another accent color on a neutral scheme, is actually good.

Never be afraid of experimenting on paints. Neutrals can be fun too -add vibrant colors like green and let the neutral ones flow smoothly into the room.
Colors used here: beige, white, brown, and green. No pop of reds or oranges needed. It doesn't always have to be accented in terms on paint. And I am talking about the lines. The lines give the room life. So basically, you could substitute accent colors with patterns that has the same colors you'd use.
As you enter a room, a certain color, furniture or any piece should catch your attention. That would be your focal point.
In this case, the bed. Or should I say, the headboard.
FOCAL POINT [The center of interest or activity.]
For living rooms, a focal point could be the fireplace, a huge framed-mirror, or a painting (good conversational piece).
But not always, one achieves the focal point idea. Take my room (previous arrangement) for example.
The photo was taken in a way that it's the person's POV as s/he enters. There are a lot of things going on -you've got the frames, lamp, television, and a quote glued on the wall.
Now, what particular thing was considered the focal point?
Like what I've said earlier, a focal point can be anything that catches the eye.
What's wrong with the design on the photo above?
There are a lot of stuff going on around as you enter the room. The eyes get confused on where to focus. It could not identify the focal point. In short, there was really no focal point.
Try avoiding this in the setup of a room. You don't wanna strain your eyes with too much color, decor, or pattern. Not unless your trying to achieve the cluttered, distressing theme (:
Remember! The simpler the design, the easy it is to the eyes.

Have friends over!
A small space is sometimes a burden for a home owner to come up with ideas. The key? Maximize! Tip: A daybed! :)  |
Daybeds -a cross between a bed, chaise lounge, and couch. Commonly used for lounging, reclining, seating. Seen mostly in common rooms, a day bed could help you maximize your space. If you're the most hospitable one in the neighborhood and you've got no extra room to turn it into a guest area well putting a day bed in your office, library, game room or any room you could possibly let your friend stay for the night might help. Again. Let's maximize! Drawers under the daybed isn't actually for storage. Move the coffee table aside and pull out the drawer and you've got another bed! Basically, the drawers you see [photo] aren't really drawers. Tricky? Yes! And practical! But if you wish to have more storage than more sleeping space, well you could substitute the pull-out bed with real drawers.   Some think that when you say daybeds it must be by a window. Yes, that's the idea. But it doesn't ALWAYS have to be there. You could substitute your bed with a day bed especially if you're in an small apartment. It gives you the feeling of a couch and a bed at the same time. That way, you maximize the space. COLOR. Earth tones are in nowadays. With all the "be eco-friendly" thing going on. But that has nothing to do with that -not unless you use eco-friendly paints. But I must say, you should give them a try. Back to the colors. The greens, browns, and whites come together if you want to achieve the tone. Accent the room with a bit of red, orange or yellow -but not all together. That would hurt your eyes. You wouldn't wanna strain your eyes with too much vibrancy. Put the accent colors maybe on pillows, coffee table runner, scented candles, or the plants. Remember, a pop of cray wouldn't hurt one bit! The name's Justin Jon, a graduate of BS in Business Management at the Ateneo de Davao University. But that's far from what I really love doing. Colors. Patterns. Style.
