It's that time of the year again.

Christmas doesn't have to be red and green. It doesn't have to be all about snow either. Just have fun with the colors and give the Yuletide Season a pop of cray!

A Glass of Tea --lights

I have glasses collecting dust over the shelves. Never been used because they're too beautiful to be held by clumsy hands like my brothers and sisters.

Same thing going on with you? Well, why not repurpose these glasses to tealight containers.

This is a simple DIY project. Place tealight in the glass. You can even add a bit of water so the tealights float. And you are done! No mess, no trouble. Just dainty lighting.

By the way, don't forget, we are dealing with fire here. Never leave them unattended even if the glasses contain water. Better safe than sorry.

Midnight City

Mostly echoes and whispers -that is the best way I could describe the song.

I first heard of the airy song by M83 in Warm Bodies writen by Isaac Marion and directed by Jonathan Levine. Well, reading the book was different from watching it. Now this might sound a lot like a movie review but let me assure you, we'll get to designing tip later.

Anyway. I had more fun reading it than watching it. Scenes weren't similar from what I imagined reading it. Though, I can't blame Levine especially if it was Marion's idea. Somehow, I got bored with how it was represented. Good thing the music score was good. Now, where am I going with this, you might ask. Well here we go.

In my previous post I asked you to imagine yourself in a music video while listening to your favorite song. Try to assess your vision again without the music. Now which is better?

I'd have to say the one with music is way better, right? Now that's color. That is the feel. You'd want to walk in a room where you get a certain vibe -may it be fun, calm, or even harsh- as long as it fits you and the design.

The thing is, you think of your design with music as an inspiration then keep the music playing after brainstorming. Thus, keeping the song's vibe in your design in the long run. Never turn down the volume. Never let the vibe run out.

The same goes with organizing parties. You'd want to play songs that fit the event. Never be afraid to apply music to your design or concepts.

In future posts, I'll be showing you photos with similarites and differences between the designs and the songs.

As for now, try to work on your own and surprise yourself with a pop of cray.

What songs can do ...

It is never wrong to find yourself an inspiration and one of the best is music. Funny that composers or song writers find inspiration for them to come up with lyrics, then here we are making use of those letters and lines for us to be inspired. It's a cycle though.

Now in your room or any other places in your house you'd like to redesign, try to listen to an old song -or if you are the type that loves modern noise (no pun intended) then so be it, and imagine yourself in a set. In this case you are in a music video. You are the director, the props people, the artist, the actor. You get to do whatever you want, in short.

Now that you have your music video set in your mind, go back to reality. Your room.

Do you like what you see now? No? Then make use of the feeling you had while making up the music video in your mind. Get the feel.

If you listened to an upbeat song, then the way you'd want your room to be would be fun and colorful. As for slow or the ballads, I might say it falls on the modern minimalist class. Old songs tend to lean more on the traditonal design. But if you played hard and rocked your way to imagination, no more questions there. Black would reign your design.

Try to play around with music and apply it to your design. Never be afraid to mix and match. In the end, it will all fall to your liking. Because as I have mentioned, you are the director, the props people, artist, and the actor. And try listening to other genres, even the ones you'd never thought of listening to. That might surprise you. Well, in a good way probably.
